MLINK

Remote monitoring for the PowerStar inverter system

The MLINK remote monitoring unit is a valuable addition to your MLT Drives PowerStar alternative energy system.

The PowerStar inverter system is normally installed in locations that are determined by technical factors such as distribution board wiring, battery bank storage and others.  These factors do not guarantee a convenient location for easy day to day access and monitoring.

The MLINK connects to the PowerStar inverter system via a communications cable and thus can be placed in a much more convenient location such as a study, kitchen or other frequently visited area.

You as the customer would probably have questions about the overall status and performance of you PowerStar inverter system.  Common questions such as:
  • How much electricity am I consuming at a given time?
  • Am I using too much power?
  • How much renewable energy am I receiving?
  • How much energy from the Utility am I drawing?
  • Where has the power come from and where has it gone to?
  • What exactly is happening with my Inverter system?
These questions can be answered by the information provided by d\the MLINK remote monitoring unit.  With this information, you as the customer can optimize your energy usage by considering when you use power and how much power you use.

The graphing functionality of the MLINK unit allows the user to view the history and performance of the system at a glance.

MLT Drives Power Controllers - 4K - 1P48V003

MLT DRIVES POWER CONTROLLERS

MLT Inverters are designed to be robust and tough both mechanically and electrically.  The inverters have 150% overload capacity and wide operating temperature range designed for many harsh environments.  These inverters are the perfect fir for low maintenance, grid-connected and off-grid, remote installations and industrial power management.

MLT Drives pioneered the design and development of solar inverters to power remote communities and remote installations. Our products have been in use reliably for over 20 years already.  The system architecture guarantees optimal efficiency, maximizes system reliability and results in extended  equipment life.

Heat-Pump water heating systems

Heat pumps are getting more popular, they work in a very effective way and are very reliable.  A heat pump is relatively cheap and will provide about a third of our electricity demand.

How does it work?
A heat pump produces warm water.  About 33% of our electricity consumption comes from heating water.  The pump uses outside air and is electrically powered, it compresses the air so that it will multiply it's energy factor up till 4.5 time per PV/kilo Watt.  Heat pumps work perfectly in combination with solar panels and the new models are weatherproof so you can store them outside the house.

Solar Panels, a lasting solution...

A few years ago when solar panels first made their appearance they were quite expensive to purchase.  Though over the years the production process of solar panels has improved and prices went down so much that nowadays solar energy can compete against grid power and will become more profitable in less time than you would might expect.

Why solar panels?
  • Solar panels can supply your total electricity demand, but also partially.
  • Solar panels will require a one time investment, after that you will have very few costs on maintenance.  All panels have a long guarantee period.
  • Although the initial investment of solar cells may be high, once installed, they provide a free source of electricity, which will pay off over the coming years.
  • You are not affected by rising electricity prices, in the future it will most probably be possible to resell your unused electricity generated by the panels, for a nice price, back to the electricity company.
  • Solar panels could be combined with other new energy saving equipment like heat pumps giving you even more economical advantages.
  • Solar panels are environmental-friendly.

New Possibilities...

Over the years while electricity prices have been rising, the production process of solar panels has been improved and they are therefore more affordable then ever before.  Furthermore MLT Drives has developed a unique product, a special inverter called the Power Star that regulates your electricity management perfectly and gives you numerous options to take your electricity management to the next level.  In addition you will find your household more environmental friendly and less depended on the electricity company.

Expensive Electricity...

Over the last couple of years the South African electricity prices have been subject to numerous increases. The 2009 31% tariff increase will most certainly not be the last. Those increases made a lot of us wonder whether there might be options to purchase our electricity cheaper.

This September 10th Eskom chief executive officer Jacob Maroga announced another tariff increase which will come in to effect co longer than April next year.  Due to the pressure on the world energy market in combination with Eskom's financial shortages the electricity prices in the future are expected to only go one way... UP!
